Speedpaints

On the suggestion of Alice, I've started this summer off doing landscapes. This week it's speedpainting, below are the results. I only like the one with the trees, all the others are pretty bad. I'm going to keep going with this for a little while and then maybe try out something a little different.

Edit 10:51 am:
Not entirely happy with these ones either, but thought I'd try vertical format. I think I'll try actually painting. It's hard since I am primarly a drawer rather than a painter.

Bird Lady again

She's finished. Starting from there to here. I decided to go with a loose paint style than paint it detailed like I did with her head.

Detailing the hair.

Changing colours on the "wings" - going for "loose"

End result.

Photos from Exit

Here's some photos from the setup of the exhibition, I didn't take any during the show so please excuse the mess. I ran out of memory on the camera and forgot to clear it during the course of the exhibition. You can see more photos at Looking Glass and some at Ann Valentine's blog. You can find more about some the works in these photos from here.

Bird lady

Okay I forgot to take pictures of the exhibition, so that will happen soon. But here's some details of what I'm trying to play around with at the moment.

Redrew the sketch on the computer, I was trying to emulate the rough lines I get while drawing with ballpoint pen. I fixed up the pose and the feathers.

Some rough colours to test out the scheme, for some reason I always end up playing around with colouring ladies in shades of blue and green.

A close up, not sure if I want to leave it as simple colouring.

A close up, playing around with the shading.

musings

Gwah, only a few more days till the exhibition and it's getting a little frentic. I'm going to take some pictures of the place this morning so they'll be up tomorrow. It's all very exciting, it was one big hub of activity yesterday and promises to be the same today.

Anima/Animus Redux is mounted on some board and is downstairs as part of the main exhibition. Anima/Animus is upstairs since it didn't really fit downstairs. All well, at least they all get displayed.

I have an interview with QUT this Friday, which is really unexpected since I was very sure I wasn't going to get looked at since my portfolio's was pretty dodgy. I'm still wavering over the art versus game design thing but it does look like I'm more likely to go for game design.

I did talk to a few teachers and it seems like I always say "If I have to do something commercial then it may as well be something I like". So maybe "art" will be a part-time thing. Though for me it's very hard to seperate the two, I like them equally as much but for slightly different reasons.

Seems like I'm finding a fair few things to stick in this blog. Here's some drawings from Drawing class.

This set is more of a process of how I went from little sketch, to bigger one to finalised piece.
