Concept Design Assignment Part 1

What precedes a long furious battle with trying to get shit done. This post is picture heavy and it is sad that I am getting Photoshop lazy so these pics are too big.

Concept design involves much planning and the nuts and bolts of it doesn't look pretty. Which means I am trying to cover my ass from putting up "ugly" drawings.

Quick Bite: Visual Diary sketches

Here's some sketches from the visual diary that I had to keep over the last semester. Excuse the bad scans but it was a big sketch book.

Couch:

I like this one, though it's not 100% accurate drawing of the couch. Cloth is difficult to get right. I was sitting about a meter away from it. For some reason, I don't really sit on the couch, I'm usually on the floor.

Shoes:

My favourite, I'll try and get a better picture of it. These aren't all my shoes, just the majority are. I think there's about 2 pairs which belong to my dad.. I had a lot of fun drawing this one.

Fruit:

Somehow drawing fruit helps with drawing the 3 dimmensional forms of the human body. I guess it's true. However I was supposed to draw cut cross sections of some of these fruits... Instead I have a maderin in a state of undress. Is it possible to be a fruit pervert?

Fake Femur:

One day, I got to class early and there was a plastic femur lying around. Now that I think about it, it would have been cool had I stolen it. But I may be too morally good to do such a thing. It was nice to draw.

Junk sprocket

Some doodles from this weekend that I did at Alice's house. Not sure where to go to next. I've been stressing over my university application which ended up in a nightmare about it last night. Hopefully I'll have happy news to post here at the end of the week.

This is one that's been in my mind but I can't really get it down clearly. I knew it was something with a long hidden head.

Same thing but in a somewhat military suit.

A random scribble that turned into a dragon. I seem to end up drawing some kind of chinese dragon.

Some random clothing designs, probably based off some NPC clothes in Fable II.

Not sure what this is, started out as something and then ended up like this. Though the scribble on the right looks like it has potential.

Doodling

Had a showing of everyone's final works, and "Anima/Animus caused bit of a stir. Mainly because it's supposably an unexpected side to my personality or as how people know me.

Here's some sketches of some drawings I want to fiddle around with during the holiday while I await for the uni entry rounds. Fingers crossed.

Final Battle

Just about finished, hopefully the first 8 of these are going into the exhibition. Glad to get them done and I feel pretty happy with them. It's my first time doing something this big and a lots happened with them over the last 2-3 months.

So here's the final shots! The actual pictures aren't this dark but since they aren't with me I can't adjust the pictures accurately.

Jumpstart

I've been neglecting this blog lately since everything is moving really fast. Only about less (!) than two weeks till the exhibition. So here's some progress shots.

Had some troubles integrating the heads of the females so on the suggestion of a teacher, I went at it with a stanley knife. The result is quite nice, I was a bit worries but the more I look at it, the better I feel about it.

Not quite finished with these yet, they're almost there. These are "Anima/Animus Redux". Might get darker tones in here.

Some continuations of Redux, they are different now so some new shots will be coming up soon. It's really hard trying to find "smexy" male poses so I got a really good suggestion from a class mate for the man picture here.

Rope family's grown a bit, since last Tuesday, there's about eight pieces so we'll see if this installation will get finished.

Forward march

Just an update on how the Anima/Animus pictures are going. As predicted by this week, they are heading more or less in the right direction. There are some problems to fix and a whole barrel with the Female/Male ones.

I tried covering them in ink and now I'm sort of stuck as to keep attacking these in hopes something comes out or leaving them out. Hopefully something comes out soon.

Right now the bull one is my favourite, I think it's got the right amount of pencil line, white paint and ink bits. The head is still a pain in the neck.

I'm thinking of scraping back this head and putting a smaller one on. The body needs some more work, it's too smooth.

Getting somewhere here. Male bodies are hard for me to draw.

Not sure about this one, maybe some more work.
